Sightseeing Out of Pune

Ajanta Ellora Caves

About 200 Kms. from Pune are the famous Ajanta - Ellora caves. These are 34 sculptured caves expressing Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain themes. They were carved between 5th and 10th century A.D. It took over five centuries for the Hindu, Buddhist and Jain monks to chisel out these monasteries, temples, chapels and decorate them with remarkable imagination and details.

 

Mahabaleshwar

Mahabaleshwar is situated amidst the heights of the Sahyadris, about 120 km south of Pune. Mahabaleshwar's famous "points" offer breathtaking views of valleys that are full of evergreen forests and lush undergrowth. Springs and waterfalls abound in the area offering lovely picnic spots.
